For over 35 years, the Educational Bookshop has stood as a cornerstone of intellectual and cultural life in the city. Located in the heart of East city, it is not just a bookstore—it is a haven for readers, students, scholars, and dreamers. With its vast collection of books in English, Arabic, and other languages, the bookshop has become a vital resource for education, dialogue, and the free exchange of ideas.

But today, this beloved institution is in peril. The COVID-19 pandemic has dealt a devastating blow to the bookshop’s operations. Extended closures, a sharp decline in foot traffic, and the economic downturn have left the shop struggling to stay afloat. Despite the dedication of its staff and supporters, the bookshop now faces mounting debts, unpaid rent, and the very real possibility of permanent closure.

This is where we need your help.

We are launching an Emergency Appeal to raise $50,000 to save the Educational Bookshop. These funds will go directly toward:

  • Covering rent and utility bills to keep the doors open.

  • Paying outstanding debts to suppliers and publishers.

  • Restocking shelves with new books to attract readers and customers.

  • Investing in online sales and delivery services to adapt to the changing world.

Why This Matters

The Educational Bookshop is more than just a place to buy books. It is a cultural hub that brings people together. It hosts book launches, poetry readings, and community events that foster dialogue and understanding. It is a space where students find textbooks, where writers share their stories, and where people from all backgrounds can connect through the power of literature.

In a city as complex and divided , the bookshop serves as a rare neutral ground—a place where differences are set aside, and the love of learning unites us all. Losing it would mean losing a vital piece of the city’s cultural and intellectual fabric.

How You Can Help

  1. Donate Generously: Every dollar counts. Whether you can give 10or10or1,000, your contribution will make a real difference.

  2. Spread the Word: Share this campaign with your friends, family, and social networks. The more people who know about the bookshop’s plight, the better our chances of saving it.

  3. Visit or Shop Online: Once the bookshop reopens, show your support by visiting in person or purchasing books online. Your patronage will help ensure its long-term survival.

A Personal Note from the Bookshop Team

“The Educational Bookshop has been a labor of love for over three decades. It has weathered many storms, but the challenges we face today are unlike anything we’ve seen before. We are determined to keep this space alive—not just for ourselves, but for the countless individuals who have found inspiration, knowledge, and community within these walls. With your help, we can ensure that the bookshop continues to thrive for generations to come.”

Join Us in Saving a Cultural Treasure

The Educational Bookshop is a testament to the enduring power of books and the written word. It is a place where ideas flourish, where cultures intersect, and where hope is kindled. By supporting this campaign, you are not just saving a bookstore—you are preserving a vital space for education, dialogue, and connection in city.

Donate today and help us write the next chapter of the Educational Bookshop’s story.
